Letter to the Editor of the Union Leader Rebutting Damien Fisher’s Article

Updated: Aug 3, 2019

To the Editor:

In his sixth article in 2019 characterized by negative coverage of the Saint Benedict Center in Richmond, Damien Fisher informs his readers that the group has appealed to the Vatican over sanctions imposed upon them by the Diocese of Manchester, (Deadline passes for Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary as group appeals to Rome, 7/1/2019). Fisher then proceeds to recycle, for the third time since January, an unfounded and long discredited accusation against the Saint Benedict Center, which has no news value and no relevance to the current story.

For Fisher, the controversy between the Center and the Diocese seems to be less an opportunity to inform, as a pretext to malign. His hostility to the object of his reporting is unforgiving, unremitting, and unconcealed.

Sincerely,

C. J. Doyle
